ALSO...
I am playing drums and singing harmony for PAT WHELAN whose debut EP "STAND UP" was released on 25th of December and is available through Rough Trade and various other not-too-shabby outlets.

"STAND UP" features the dubious drunken vocal talents of "The West Smithfield Men's Celebratory Stout Choir" which includes my strong right supping arm and was mentioned in my post on 05/02/06.

April 06 Recording Month
Recording Grand

Spent first week in Highbury working on track structures and recording acoustic guitar and vocals to guide kit on 8 or 9 songs.

Second week in Croydon replacing the guide kit with real drums and percussion.

Third/fourth week in Newcastle recording rhodes and grand piano.

Just need to do some editing and bass, and thats another albums worth tied up.

01-04-06 Month Off

WAHEY!! Have taken my phone off the hook and cancelled all work and favours to have a selfish month. Plan to do nothing but record music and occasionally sleep.

21-02-06 Gig report & My Space Site

Gig appeared to go well, good size crowd, well recieved, lots of new faces not only friends and family (which is always nice).
I've joined the rush to join MySpace, there are a few more audio clips and images on there, which I intend to rotate on a regular basis. My site can be found at www.myspace.com/anthonyenglish or click the link on the left.

19-02-06 Solo Acoustic Gig

"All aboard the Mudlark" at Shane McGowans boozer, Filthy McNastys , 68 Amwell St. London. EC1R 1UU. Get there early to ensure there's some draught Guinness left! Probably a funk/latin set.

05-02-06 An afternoon Drinking Stout & Singing

As a member of "The West Smithfield Men's Celebratory Stout Choir" a mythical beast in the heart of the Barbican, by northern men for northern men. Then a kebab. Soon to be released on Muddy Records.

29-01-06 Non-release of NORTHERN STYLES

Acid Jazz have decided against releasing the planned compilation album, can't say I'm honestly overly bothered, was destined to end up in the cheapbox after going triple-cardboard! But would of been nice all the same. Hopefully we can put something out on them in the future.

Dec/Jan Up to my eyeballs in mangraft

Not many musical endeavours, too busy refurbishing the main studio at ALCHEMEA college of audio engineering. Also busy doing artwork for ads for ALCHEMEA in most of the major music mags...check out the SLOWGLASS link to the left for more details, when I get around to updating it!

Oct-05 Recording as TONY ENGLISH & THE CSA

(Casino Soul Association) Northern Soul track (wot I wrote) "FACE-UP", featuring Harbens Srih (ex-JTQ drummer) due for release in January on ACID JAZZ.

Aug-05 Gig (?) in Cortona, Italy

If you can count playing the guitar at a friends wedding as she sprints up the aisle as a "gig". I must say though, an excellent break.

Tony will be making the journey back home to Newcastle Upon Tyne to play guitar for two gigs with the reggae band he engineers, co-produces and is a member of.
